“Providing optimal care to patients is something that will never waver, but I hope to be more than just an orthodontist in my community. I want the office to be a fun escape, even for a short time, where patients can feel confident in who they are. I want to be part of the growth in young individuals to further the betterment of all. Patients affect my life in their stories and battles they have overcome. Every patient I have treated has brought something new into my life, and it is something for which I can’t thank them enough.” – Dr. Carl Bernstein
Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents who worked in the healthcare field, Dr. Carl Bernstein knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career that allowed him to make a positive difference in the lives of others. He attended West Virginia University for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Master of Science degree, and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Orthodontists serve as the bridge between patients, the knowledge generated by scientific research, and the policies and practices to implement that knowledge. As the recipients of care, you trust an orthodontist to provide care that is safe, efficient, effective, timely, and patient-centered. Continuing education is the key to update one’s knowledge in advancing evidence-based care, and is something to which Dr. Bernstein is committed.
He is active in continuing education seminars and study groups through his memberships with the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontics, and the North Carolina Association of Orthodontics.
Dr. Bernstein is passionate about building a relationship with his patients. He wants the orthodontic office to be like another family, where you are able to have fun and express yourself. What excites Dr. Bernstein about work is the transformation patients have from when their first appointment to their last.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Bernstein enjoys spending time with his beautiful girlfriend Jordan, his Westie named Daisy, and his large, extended family—13 nieces and nephews and one more on the way!
Dr. Bernstein is passionate about playing and watching golf and tennis, and watching college football and basketball, and NFL. Needless to say, he’s a big sport fan!
Giving back to the community is the backbone of Griffin & Bernstein Orthodontics’ philosophy. Helping and giving back to the less fortunate is what it is all about, and Dr. Bernstein embodies this through his work with Rotary International, Relay for Life, and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
